Lifelog ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the Lifelog mobile application (the "App").

Information We Collect

1. Account Information

When you sign in to Lifelog with Google or Sign in with Apple, we collect:

  • Email address (when provided by your sign-in provider)
  • Name (when provided by your sign-in provider)
  • Profile picture (if provided by Google)
  • Unique user identifier

2. Audio Recordings

  • Audio files you record within the App
  • Metadata associated with recordings (date, time, duration)
  • Audio recordings are stored securely in our cloud storage

3. Transcription Data

  • Text transcriptions of your audio recordings
  • Speaker identification data
  • Word-level timestamps for transcript synchronization
  • Titles and tags associated with entries
  • Transcription is performed by AssemblyAI, a third-party service provider

4. Entry Illustrations

  • Small doodle images generated for timeline entries based on your transcript
  • Stored in our cloud storage and linked to your account

5. Usage Information

  • App usage statistics
  • Device information (model, operating system version)
  • Network connection type

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide core app functionality (recording, storage, transcription, playback)
  • Authenticate your account and maintain your session
  • Store and organize your personal audio diary entries
  • Generate transcriptions of your recordings
  • Sync your data across devices
  • Improve app performance and user experience
  • Provide customer support

Data Storage and Security

Storage Location

  • Audio files are stored using Supabase cloud storage
  • Transcripts and metadata are stored in Supabase PostgreSQL database
  • All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS
  • Data is encrypted at rest on our servers

Supabase (Database and Storage)

  • Purpose: Backend infrastructure, authentication, database, file storage
  • Data shared: All user data (audio, transcripts, account info)

AssemblyAI (Transcription Service)

RevenueCat (Subscriptions)

PostHog (Product Analytics)

  • Purpose: Understand how features are used to improve the app
  • Data shared: Anonymous usage events and app version

AppsFlyer (Ad Attribution)

  • Purpose: Measure which marketing campaigns lead to app installs and subscriptions
  • Data shared: Device advertising identifier (if you allow tracking on iOS), install events, and in-app funnel events

Data Retention

  • Your audio recordings and transcripts are retained indefinitely until you delete them
  • You can delete individual recordings at any time from within the App
  • If you delete your account, all associated data will be permanently deleted within 30 days
  • Backup copies may be retained for up to 90 days for disaster recovery purposes

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: View all your data stored in the App
  • Export: Download your audio recordings and transcripts
  • Delete: Remove individual recordings or delete your entire account
  • Correct: Edit or update your account information
  • Withdraw consent: Delete your account and discontinue using the App

Data Sharing

We do NOT:

  • Sell your personal information to third parties
  • Share your recordings or transcripts with anyone except service providers necessary for app functionality
  • Use your diary content for advertising or marketing
  • Share your data with third parties for their marketing purposes

We use attribution partners (AppsFlyer) to measure ad campaign performance. This may include device identifiers if you allow tracking on iOS. We may share anonymized, aggregated analytics data, but this cannot be used to identify you.

Children's Privacy

Lifelog is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

International Data Transfers

Your data may be stored and processed in servers located in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. By using Lifelog, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries outside your country of residence.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by:

  • Posting the new Privacy Policy in the App
  • Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
  • Sending an email notification (for significant changes)

Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Right to know what personal information is collected
  • Right to know if personal information is sold or disclosed

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

  • Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and encryption at rest on our cloud infrastructure (Supabase)
  • Secure authentication using OAuth 2.0
  • Regular security audits and updates
  • Access controls and monitoring

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
